golf league, finally in; gina and addie first times
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: 1974 by ryan adams
Topic: Golf
Left work at 4:15 and went to GP's office. It's inside an old barn, I couldn't believe it. Not too bad actually, a one room suite with what looks like Frank's bedroom connected to it. Marc was there and GP kept calling me on my drive to see how far I was, cause she couldn't wait to get the heck out. I walked in with her once I finally found the place and she said "the asshole is there". I walked in and said "hi asshole". The asshole didn't even turn around, he knew it was me. "Hi IL, how are you?" he responded. Lawyers! We queued up directions to the course, and off we went in my car.

AA met us there. It started to rain. GP did real well, the technique and the stroke is definitely fantastic after one day, only thing is that it will take her some time to believe that it's going to make the ball go if she keeps doing it. AA turned out to be a natural. At my barbeque, he was showing me how to use the shanai, the kendo sword/stick. I mentioned to him it seemed similar to golf. After I showed him the golf swing, he confirmed that it really was. He did really well. Something like $150 yards his first day! Only that he is way off to the right, maybe he's twisting the club face too much or coming in too under the ball or something. I don't know if I can help much there. But I think we'll need to get JK in and have a best ball game with the four of us.

Before I left work, I called SC, the golf league person. It's been at least two weeks since I sent in my check and I haven't heard back. I am eager to play. She told me she'd send my number around to some folks looking for singles.

While I was showing GP and AA how to play, my cell rang. It turned out that it was Iris, (lol AY, how do you like that?) and that they had a spot for me on the 8:30 am Friday league. I'm in. Right now I don't mind missing work. I'll do a half day on Friday, call it working from home, and hit some golf balls. With Iris and Stella. One is AY's pet, one is mine. Ironic!!!

I was hitting pretty well, in the 200ds, completely straight.

I broke in my rescue club - iron wood, and it does about 120, straight and easy off the grass. Wonderbar!

Nemo puked up some green stuff that first I thought was poo on the floor, but then turned out to be puke, with a huge hair ball in the middle. Time to get Nemo some cat grass and pet food with grass in it.

Topic: On the way to Triathlon
Mike S said to try intervals and do transitions as soon as possible. So I swam 6 laps in the pool and tried to do the 1/4mile fast as you can 1/8mile slow intervals for 5K. MAAAAn am I hurting. The road to Tri is very long. swimming is not getting any better but hopefully i'm getting somewhere. transitions by the way is when you do 2 or more sports without a break. OUCH.

Mood:  happy
Now Playing: teen golf on TV
Topic: Friends
GP and AA and I had dinner at the Fox and Hound in Schaumburg. We figured out it must have been the first time since a year ago at Friday's. We vowed to do that more often. Nice to see friends in the middle of a hostile day.

AA has been on strict oatmeal diet because his mom's worried about his heart. I hope he'll be OK. He quit Kendo for now, so that he can get better. I know he was too sick to go to work one day. I wonder how sick. I wish he'd try yoga. And get health insurance so that he can go to doctors. Sigh.

Thanks AA :-) you are the best.

Golf League - I'm sold.
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Torreador
Topic: Golf
I was bummed out for a couple weeks since I decided to try to get better in golf. I don't know anyone who plays who'd be willing or able to play with me - everyone is either unable due to having a family or a group of "guys" to play with, or just doesn't play at all. So I decided to join a ladies golf league. It's only $35/year and is close to my work. This is going to be great, or so I hope.

S's baby is in the hospital. I'm praying.

Going over to my company reunion now. EEEWWW.

Golfing in the Rain
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Singin' in the rain
Topic: Golf
After work, I headed over to the Billy Caldwell Golf Course for a 9. It has rained all day, and it was not planning on stopping. In fact, around hole 6 it picked up. I loved it! It was so much fun to play in the rain. I was by myself on the course, just me and my cart and my clubs. I had proper rain gear on, but I was still getting wet, but not where it counts. My playing was terrible. I doubled par on most holes. But I'll blame it on the rain and that the ball just doesn't go as far if all those rain drops are slowing it down. Yeah, that's it. That's the excuse. I saw a raccoon running across the course. Later I spotted a beautiful young doe, six feet away in the bushes, that watched me tee off. It was nice, and something I'd definitely do again. It was good to go to relieve the stress of the last few days.

NY with MJ

Moondag
The meetings today were for training. I managed to sneak over and meet R, who needs to buy my product, even if he doesn't know it yet. Afterwards, MJ and I took the plane to NWR and headed over to the car rental. This is where the fun began. Rented from Enterprise. Apparently, in the NY/NJ area, there is a "password" that you have to know if you want things done right. I had a standard size car reserved. I get there, and all's they have are minivans. Now give me a break, how am I supposed to drive that in NY, and park it? No way. I found a manger, walked up to him, and said the password:

Me: "What the f&^%?"
Manager: "Yo, what's the problem?"
Me: "They are trying to put me in an f'n minivan"
Manager: "What? No! I got you covered -Take this Mazda r3."
Me: "Snap, that's better."

Found the hotel, after a few scenic accidental detours. Got the rooms. Got to the room and I find that there is no high-speed dial up. Great, I have to invoke the password again. Called downstairs and said that there seems to be a problem - I got a room with high-speed access, politely. They said "I am sorry, but that's all we got." I said "What the f*&^, I'm coming down." I get downstairs. "Ma'am, here's the key to your executive suite." Snap!

MJ and I headed over to (to be finished later)
