Under 100!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Golf
Today I played golf with Stella and Iris in the league. I missed a few weeks due to weather and laziness and meetings. It's so funny that I have a pet named Stella, and AY has a pet named Iris... And I'm playing with them.

Anyway, I got to use my new clubs for the first time. I need help in the world of Irons. That'll be my next lesson. I also need to get a shorter-distance wedge. I love my new M wedge. I need to figure out what a shorter one would be. I can hit about 75 yards with my M wedge and I need something that allows you to go like 30 at most or something, with at least a half a swing. It feels unnatural otherwise. I also bought a 4, 2, and putters for gina and addie the other day. I was going to use all 3 and see which one I like the best, then give the other two as starters to them. All 3 are very nice. But I made my selection. It's a dunlop, very heavy. What is up with Irons? I can't hit Irons. I'm also better and more consistent with my woods, and the putting practice helped. I need to practice even more.

I was 47 with 22 puts on a 9 hole. I had a couple bogies, one par, and the worst holes were an 8 and a 7 - no 9's today!

Left work at 4:15 and went to GP's office. It's inside an old barn, I couldn't believe it. Not too bad actually, a one room suite with what looks like Frank's bedroom connected to it. Marc was there and GP kept calling me on my drive to see how far I was, cause she couldn't wait to get the heck out. I walked in with her once I finally found the place and she said "the asshole is there". I walked in and said "hi asshole". The asshole didn't even turn around, he knew it was me. "Hi IL, how are you?" he responded. Lawyers! We queued up directions to the course, and off we went in my car.

AA met us there. It started to rain. GP did real well, the technique and the stroke is definitely fantastic after one day, only thing is that it will take her some time to believe that it's going to make the ball go if she keeps doing it. AA turned out to be a natural. At my barbeque, he was showing me how to use the shanai, the kendo sword/stick. I mentioned to him it seemed similar to golf. After I showed him the golf swing, he confirmed that it really was. He did really well. Something like $150 yards his first day! Only that he is way off to the right, maybe he's twisting the club face too much or coming in too under the ball or something. I don't know if I can help much there. But I think we'll need to get JK in and have a best ball game with the four of us.

Before I left work, I called SC, the golf league person. It's been at least two weeks since I sent in my check and I haven't heard back. I am eager to play. She told me she'd send my number around to some folks looking for singles.

While I was showing GP and AA how to play, my cell rang. It turned out that it was Iris, (lol AY, how do you like that?) and that they had a spot for me on the 8:30 am Friday league. I'm in. Right now I don't mind missing work. I'll do a half day on Friday, call it working from home, and hit some golf balls. With Iris and Stella. One is AY's pet, one is mine. Ironic!!!

I was hitting pretty well, in the 200ds, completely straight.

I broke in my rescue club - iron wood, and it does about 120, straight and easy off the grass. Wonderbar!

Golf League - I'm sold.
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Torreador
Topic: Golf
I was bummed out for a couple weeks since I decided to try to get better in golf. I don't know anyone who plays who'd be willing or able to play with me - everyone is either unable due to having a family or a group of "guys" to play with, or just doesn't play at all. So I decided to join a ladies golf league. It's only $35/year and is close to my work. This is going to be great, or so I hope.

S's baby is in the hospital. I'm praying.

Going over to my company reunion now. EEEWWW.

Golfing in the Rain
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Singin' in the rain
Topic: Golf
After work, I headed over to the Billy Caldwell Golf Course for a 9. It has rained all day, and it was not planning on stopping. In fact, around hole 6 it picked up. I loved it! It was so much fun to play in the rain. I was by myself on the course, just me and my cart and my clubs. I had proper rain gear on, but I was still getting wet, but not where it counts. My playing was terrible. I doubled par on most holes. But I'll blame it on the rain and that the ball just doesn't go as far if all those rain drops are slowing it down. Yeah, that's it. That's the excuse. I saw a raccoon running across the course. Later I spotted a beautiful young doe, six feet away in the bushes, that watched me tee off. It was nice, and something I'd definitely do again. It was good to go to relieve the stress of the last few days.
