SY's B-day
Topic: Friends
happy B-Day to SY! I had a great time at the party. SY has this awesome new dance move she does, it's really cool!

But, dear Alumni Club in Schaumburg, you suck!

You:
1. melded the icecream cake even though I told you 10 times to be careful with it.
2. took 45 minutes to serve drinks
3. re-negged on your offer to give all of her guests 2 free drinks
4. had shitty music that recycled itself multiple times. Come on, "lean back" 3 times in 4 hours? Gimmie a break!
5. are grossly understaffed.
6. you wouldn't bring the cake with candles lit
7. your manager is retarded.

Why is manchester united not playing conveniently on the day that I'm in manchester?

I'm going to find out if there really is "man" in manchester. ha ha. I'm so not funny, sorry.

whadaday
Topic: Friends
today was all about friends.

11 am brunchamunch for r and jkm's bday, with jk and terryn for r and jkm's bday. Went to the marriot in UICville, which used to be a hyatt. when it was a hyatt, it used to be good. now the selection, service, and champaigne were severely missing. bummer, never again.

2 pm date with BM, mex fine arts museum, nuevo leon. then hung out at his place and watched Paycheck. Ben Aflac is not that hot in it. Not enough skin. Uma - ditto. But I liked the movie. I liked the clues and the uncertainty of the plot. Yes, it is far fetched, but it was a mystery action type. I got into it and was able to ignore the impossible, like if there is a ragin inferno in the room, half of the room wouldn't just survive, and I don't care if the stuff in the room is nonflamable... Well, if it is, then there shouldn't have been such an inferno. Ok see, the seeing the future thing, the whole thing is messed up, and the lotto deal at the end, wouldn't the feds catch him then? lotto winners are not unanomous. dot dot dot... paper lotto in the electronic day and age? not enough hand held gadgets and just regular cell phones... couldn't decide when this took place. Ok so if I think about the movie, it starts being stupid, but if I go along with it, it's fun.

then went to S's house for Eid, had wonderful amazing food, with her, E, K, and D. And TEA!

Then went home to meet r and go to the green mill to meet t and s and listen to jazz, till 2 something. And now I'm home blogging away so that I never forget the good times.

Didn't spend anough time catching up with G and H, exchanged messages with MD, and didnt' have a resolution or makeup with B this whole weekend even though I tried. oh well. There is a limit to how much one can do in one day.

Saturday's Events
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Friends
Got to see NAV, PRI, CHR, LIZ at IHOP where we enjoyed pumpkin pancakes. Was weird to be in the same room with NAV again. I'm so uncomfortable with him. LIZ must have invited him. Finally gave LIZ her b-day present. TSK TSK on me for not making enough time to deliver it sooner. A.D. was nowhere to be found, not sure how he planned to get there at 5. GI was MIA.

Later that day, Jen and I were suppose to go to beer school, but it was cancelled.

Then I went to the Boo Ball with Bi, his sister and friends. Made fool of self. Dire consequences to follow. Bi is a great dancer, really surprised me. No more open bar for me. I was hung over till like 4PM Sunday.

Also, all of us went to wet to hook up with Ken, who texted me like 10 times earlier that day. We get there and after a while my friends leave. Ken ignores me the whole time I'm there, and I ended up hanging with his friends. His one friend was nice so it was OK but it was not why I came. Ken really pissed me off - you don't ask someone to come out and hang with you and then blow them off completely. If he was macking on a girl, it would be one thing. But he was just being a jerk. So I'm going to avoid him for a while, not good friend quality. There was a cute bartender there but I was too mentally involved at the moment with my car and with MD's deal to notice he was hitting on me. Ok so what happened is that somewhere between the first and the second club, I lost my car alarm lock. So I had to cab it back to transit and wait for AAA to unlock my car. What made it worse is that my cell died too so I had to borrow some dude's cell to call them. Crappy adventure.

Saturday's Saturnine Events
Mood:  accident prone
Topic: Friends
Herein I shall recount the adventures and mishaps of Saturday.

Saturday did start out as a semi-normal day. At some point I woke up. It was probably around 1 or two, considering the red bull after-effect. I then picked up ballons and ice cream cake, and headed over to pick up L and H. Then we headed over to the race so that we can freeze our butts off. After the race we went to Liz's b-day dinner. Here's where the mishaps began.

First an omen. We finished dinner, the desert plates were distributed, and a half hour has gone by, but no cake was served.

I went out to find the assistant manger and said what's up with the cake? He said, "We didn't know it was ice cream cake. No one told us. We left it out in the hot kitchen and it melted. We'll try to fix it." Ok, so MORONS? When I handed the cake to the host, I said here's ice cream cake. It said on the box ICE CREAM CAKE, KEEP REFRIGERATED. IN BIG
LETTERS. HELLO?

I didn't even yell at the guy because what's that going to achieve. I simply asked him what the plan was. He was in shock because apparently he hasn't come up with a plan. Dealing with true restaurant genious here. If I ever interview someone to be a restaurant manager, I'm going to ask them what they'd do in this situation.

Here's who I'd hire: "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, we have already sent someone to the store to pick up another cake. Or we've prepared a replacement cake for you."

Here's what I got: "We weren't told this was ice cream cake. We have some ice cream we can add on top of the cake to make it look better. Next time you should tell us it's ice cream cake." Again, casting blame on the customer.

When Liz got to the cake, it looked like shit. At least it was edible. By the way the service was pretty bad for those who wanted drinks - they didn't come around enough. Note to self - do not sit next to Sam in restaurants. Building a pyramid out of restaurant breakables on table may be creative and cute, for AN INFANT. Sorry Sam, but it's DA TRUTH.

Ok, so as we were finally leaving, someone informs me about a SCANDAL that we missed at the other table. Someone with a very very BIG MOUTH started talking about the dirty deed that happened in the club last Saturday. This someone called the female in the story a whore. Problem is, the "whore" One was sitting right there at the club. She defended herself, but not very well, because it turns out she 1. was not drunk, 2. did know the guy was engaged - he had his ring on 3. fell for the "but it's an arranged marriage and I'm not happy" line which is like a TOTAL LIE. And by the way I'm pissed because I just met the guy's fiancee the week before this whole thing happened! And I praised him in front of her for what a nice guy he is. Guess I didn't really know him that well and I'm really pissed at him. A part of me wants to call him and ask him what he was thinking and how he can live with himself, mostly as research for future written literature about how people can rationalize things like this and so that I don't get caught with a man like this, but I would be repulsed to ever speak to him again even, so I won't waste my energy. PURE EVIL.

Later, we made our way to the club. Which was miserable. 1. all men were either ugly, or shorter then me, or losers, or with someone and I didn't like anyone's style. 2. bad DJ - no transitions between songs. 3. bouncers woulnd't let anyone sit on furniture. 4. the whole place lacked class. 5. met club owner T - he also owns rinconsito sudamericano, one of my favorite restaurants. Spent more time hanging with him then with anyone else there. I'm pretty sure most people did not have a good time at the club - not coming back there.

Then to top it off, there was unfolding dramma between C and M and I was caught in the middle. C and M love each other, but do not know how to communicate with each other. So it's all messed up, but at least they've agreed to see each other. M needs to re-neg on a promise he can't keep, and stop playing mind games, oh and give C more reasons to trust him by sharing more of his life and his past. C needs to feel more secure about M's feelings about her, and be nicer to him, and be more open about her emotions. She needs to be constructive in telling him how she feels about him and that being the focus more then getting caught up in his mind games. I hate mind games.

And people came at separate times and I was stuck going to the door to make sure everyone's getting in.

So when the C and M thing was done, I was ready to leave, I couldn't find Halls. Looked everywhere. She was not picking up her phone. I got my car and hung out down the street from the club. Got C to find her, finally, over cell. Then I got stuck driving Halls, Daniel, and his brother to Daniel's place, because their ride was too busy enthralled with R. We get to Daniel's place and turns out both he and his brother left car and house keys in their ride's car. D'uh? What were you thinking leaving the club like that? So this was 2:30 at that point. They call their ride, and he says he's coming. We then figure out that somehow he and R are still in the same car. I don't know how they managed to stretch a 10 minute ride into 1.5 hours and what they were doing, but they finally pulled up and we could leave. I didn't want to leave anyone before that because I'm responsible like that and I wanted to make sure everyone's OK. By the time I finally got home, it was 4:30. So much for getting some zzz's.

Ok so the night was pretty lame. I'm not going to be going clubbing for a couple of weeks - I'm sick of it and I'm sick of planning and organizing stuff. Someone else step up.

Am I spending enough time on me?
Am I doing everything I can to get a new job?

Lenny Kravitz
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Lenny Kravitz
Topic: Friends
Thanks to Liz, who selected me as the lucky one to go with her, I got to see Lenny Kravitz in a private studio performance in the back room at Shubas (Where we had lunch, which was just so so but the waiter was kind of cute, I thought, I don't think Liz agreed tho). Wow was that cool. He did about 5 or 6 songs and he's like a really nice, down to earth, and attractive guy. Yeah. The music is very good too, and it was interesting to learn about what inspires him and how he creates the music. XRT defintely did a great job with the questions they asked. Then Liz and I chased the bus. Sorry Liz. I have to document dilligently some things so I can remember them to tell about to your kids. LOL. Anyway, Liz didn't want to leave after the show. She and many others wanted to see if Lenny'd come out of the tour bus outside. Anyway, a job person called me and I got distracted from watching Liz watching the bus and at that moment he came out. Then the bus pulled away. Liz wasn't done with him. He had a 5 minute head start on us and Liz wanted to follow the bus. I should really be an FBI agent in Chicago, because we were able to find and catch up with the bus. Am I good or what? It turned into a needle in a haystack, but I guessed where they'd be going, followed them blindly for 15 minutes before we spotted them. Once again, I impressed myself. Sorry I have something wrong with my head today so ignore all my posts tone and boastful attitude. Just keep in mind, this is my blog I can do whatever I want. I got nothing else to be proud of right now, ok? ....

That song is perfect for this. Anyway, I couldn't get the man to go out on his B-day. I tried and tried. Mad at him. Everyone should go out on their b-day. I should add (get laid)to that too, but heck, when's the last time that happened to anyone, right?
