sometimes, I feel like I had a premontion...
Topic: premonitions

but I never write them down, so I never know if I had one of those doubletake moments or really did have a premoniton.

I forget them, so will try to write them down now.

My water will break when I am picking up the laundry basket from the floor of my closet when I am not having a particularly good day. First I will have to get pregnant, of course. According to what I imagined, we'll still be in this house.

In '07, I got less done then I thought, andI also lost track of some important goals. Given the new job, I could see how. But there is always something, isn't there? Don't I need a way to not do this to myself every year?  I over-committed to myself and need to mind that better.

So, next blog should be all about how I am not going to plan to do things I won't do and or how I will do things I want, and what are they now.

Blimey, that didn't take long at all!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: goals
My instructor told me I'm getting my first (white :( ) belt certification on the 9th of September. I was like, but I don't know anything- turns out I do know a pathetically small amount of stuff that is enough to go into the test. Yay. Go Me. I wonder how many 3-7 year-olds will be taking the test with me.

well well well... this is in need of an update!

I have not set any goals this year. If you don't write down your goals, your chances of making things happen are lower.  It's the end of August. Not much time left.

I did do one new good thing for myself. I am studying standard american english with a private tutor. At least I am slightly improving myself.

Here is where we are/an update from last time, a long time ago. Let's regain focus here, self!

Things that I am now behind on:

Behind:

  1. Start MBA
  2. 800 situps/6pack
  3. sail overnight
  4. learn to hang glide
  5. Learn how to invest but this is not done yet.
  6. 8:30 minute miles average in a 5K -
  7. Learn German more

Done:

  1. plan wedding = got married.

On Track:

  1. Excel at new job
  2. finish furnishing house

New:

  1. Get my first belt in martial arts by end of 2006

----------------------------------------------------------------------------okay, so now to put some priorities. Not everything is as important anymore as it used to be.

  1. Become more organized. This means:
    1. Prioritise better. Stop trying to get so much done. Plan shorter term with the day. Plan less work then what I think is reasonable. Be less optimistic about what will get done and allow for room to err.
    2. Incremental better time management, starting right now. Being on time. Never made this as much of a priority and I feel that it needs to be. I'm too grown up to be late to anything, ever.
    3. File papers in a timely manner.
    4. Put away laundry in a timely manner.
    5. Clean cat litter box in a timely manner.
    6. Check progress weekly. Really think about improving.
  2. Start MBA - get in to school by winter, 2006.
  3. finish furnishing house - by thanksgiving
  4. Learn how to invest by end of the year.
  5. 8:30 minute miles average in a 5K by end of the year
  6. Get my first belt in martial arts by end of 2006
  7. Find time to relax

no timeline - only focusing on the top few. Anything over that would be a bonus. The stuff below is not as key.

  1. 800 situps/6pack
  2. sail overnight
  3. learn to hang glide
  4. Learn German more
  5. Job - keep working well
  6. Improve vocabulary.

Things I need to do to get there:

Start MBA
a. study 3 times a week at work at lunch
b. study 1 time a week at home for 2-3 hours
c. take GRE
d. fill out college apps
e. research programs
f. get recommendations

800 situps/6pack
a. do it consistently every day
b. do the bottom stomach excersizes
c. what to do about the toughest 2 - middle - got personal trainer :-)
d. eat healthier to get more definition

8. 8:30 minute miles average in a 5K
a. speedwork speedwork speedwork v02 training?

sail overnight
a. take the class this summer.
b. sign up on time

learn to hang glide
a. save enough money
b. just go and do it

Learn how to invest
a. go to barnes and noble and read a book
b. talk to Ben and Rob and have him explain stock market

2005 update, q3
3rd quarter update to my investor=self:

Here's my focus in 2005 as it stands right now. I'll not be as upset now if some of the remainders don't get done, because, well, a lot did get done and some things had to be postponed.

I read in some fitness magazine that writing down your goals makes you more likely to do them. I think it works for me. Keeps me focused. When I have a free moment, when I need focus, or when I'm forgetting what's really important, it's a great reality check.

On Track
2. Buy a house - closing on the 20th, keeping fingers crossed.
8. 8:30 minute miles average in a 5K - not sure where this is. need to do a competition to find out! Will find out in about a month, after recovering from the marathon...

Behind:
1. Start MBA - behind
5. 800 situps/6pack - stopped for a while, but have not lost all definition. Now have a personal trainer who'll speed up this. 9. sail overnight - really behind - this might have to wait till next year.
10. learn to hang glide - probably will be postponed for another year. Does my first sesna and helicoper rides count? Just kidding.
13. Learn how to invest but this is not done yet.

Done:
3. go to prague
4. learn to snowboard
7. sprint triathlon - did chicago; also won my first division win for a supersprint :-) - didn't do the 1/2 ironman this year, due to work interference. But that's okay, there's next year, if I am so inclined.
11. now did my first marathon, screw the 1/2 marathon - did 3 of those races now, and like many more on my own.
12. Start an IRA - with some money in it okay this is done
6. be able to complete swim distances up to 1 mile - tWe've been swimming up to 3 miles in practice, between my two coaches in two states. (temporary Vegas coach for work duty.) So... need to still work on the open water swim, but my regular coach thinks I've got the endurance to do a full ironman distance. Dude, I'd probably be too bored. Do they make underwater mp3 players?

Things I need to do to get there:
1. Start MBA
a. study 3 times a week at work at lunch
b. study 1 time a week at home for 2-3 hours
c. take GRE
d. fill out college apps
e. research programs
f. get recommendations
h. read buying a house for dummies finally

5. 800 situps/6pack
a. do it consistently every day
b. do the bottom stomach excersizes
c. what to do about the toughest 2 - middle - got personal trainer :-)
d. eat healthier to get more definition

8. 8:30 minute miles average in a 5K
a. speedwork speedwork speedwork v02 training?

9. sail overnight
a. take the class this summer.
b. sign up on time

10. learn to hang glide
a. save enough money
b. just go and do it

13. Learn how to invest
a. go to barnes and noble and read a book
b. talk to Hals and have her explain futures
c. read personal finance book
d. play etrade game

New:

1. plan wedding
2. learn german more
3. furnish new house
4. excel at new job
